]]>Project: This newly constructed house was severely damaged in turn by tenants, vandals and thieves. Extensively wrecked plumbing and drainage and electrical systems and installations, besides missing ceiling boards, cornices, doors and frames, window frames, sanitary ware and taps, flooring and plastering were replaced by the owner’s insurance claim. Missing roof tiles were replaced, and the house was repainted throughout the interior and exterior as part of the insurance claim.

]]>Project: This renovation involved the expansion of a basic double storey suburban house into an upstairs/downstairs entertainment venue featuring a roof top deck with an external staircase leading down to a refurbished pool patio, newly fitted with a Mexican oven style braai. Aluminium stacker doors and sliding doors were fitted to the new bar/cellar rooms and the braai area allowing for inside/outside entertaining for all seasons. The interior 180 degree spiral concrete cast staircase was fitted with a chandelier cascade of electrical lamps from the upper to ground floor. The original clay flooring was lifted and re-laid in porcelain tiles, grouted in a contrasting colour. The top timber deck was finished with glass panels and tubular steel balustrades. A custom made timber arched door and frame was made and fitted to the interior cellar room. Original timber windows were replaced with aluminium throughout. A new gourmet open plan gourmet kitchen was fitted to the old demolished dining area to open up the entire ground floor to create an airy spacious area receiving loads of natural sun light. Old stipple plastering was smoothed by Crete stone on the interior of the house to create a seamless match to the new smooth plaster walls. Stippled plaster on the exterior was matched up to the original to create a similarly seamless look on the walls.

Project: The restoration and renovation of this Victorian era style home involved the repair of the existing timber floors, skirtings, windows and tiling, with a repaint throughout internally and externally. New joists were fitted under the timber flooring where it had sagged and the floors were refinished throughout. The pressed tin ceilings had to be cleaned, scraped and repainted. The tiled fireplaces were also cleaned and restored. All the original timber sash windows were repaired with new sash cords and cracked panes repaired.

Project: New triple story home on sloping site. The basement floor, intended for use by the owner as a kitchen for her catering business, was cut from the hillside. Sand bagging and retaining walls were built to fortify this level and an agricultural pipe installed to cope with drainage. The ground floor, built level with the road, consists of the balcony entertainment area complete with braai, study, lounge, family kitchen, w/c and garages, with the bedrooms contained on the upper third floor. To cut costs, the exterior walls were finished in ROK face work and then painted, thus eliminating the necessity of exterior plastering.
